I have 3 computers, tiger, leopard and now mountain lion.  Different operating systems can't read the format files from others, eg, mountain lion won't read photos from my previous leopard.  Should I get an external hard drive and partition it to boot from the 3 different systems so I can see the files on my previous macs.  Have I got this right or could someone point me in the right direction to find a solution to this problem please.  Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
