Q: Mailservice Problem after 10.8 Upgrade

Hi,

i have updatet my Lion Server to Mountain Lion today. Now the Mailserver cannot be started. In the /var/log/system.log i see the fallowing error:

Feb 19 19:17:01 frodo.menzns.de Server[232]: Error starting Mail service

Feb 19 19:17:01 frodo.menzns.de Server[232]: Error: The server '127.0.0.1' reported an error while processing a command of type: 'setState' in plug-in: 'servermgr_mail'. Error: Error Domain=XSActionErrorDomain Code=0 "CANNOT_MALLOC_ERR" UserInfo=0x7fa1a5ebdbf0 {NSLocalizedDescription=CANNOT_MALLOC_ERR}

Does anybody know what that means? And what can i do.

Thank you very much

Manuel

    The next Problem i think is that the Directory /Library/Server/Mail/ is not on my Mac. Is it possibe to complete reconfigure the Mailserver? I also have no serveradmin cli tool on the upgradet mac. It seems to be something went wrong.

    You might want to redownload the server app from the app store (don't copy it from another machine, it has very specific permissions that are easy to break). This should setup the /Library/Server/Mail/Config folder and give you functioning serveradmin CLI.

    From there, you can check settings

    sudo serveradmin settings mail

    If this is an office and you need the server running ASAP, you might want to roll-back to the clone you made before upgraded (always best to clone before an update) and retry the process when you can take the sever down without consequence.

    i have done the roll-back already. now i will clone the machine to vmware and test the upgrade again. when there are the same errors i will give you feedback.

    thank you very much.

    kind regards
