    Some things to try first:

    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

        •    Launch Settings app

        •    Tap on Wi-Fi

        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I had this same issue, it seems any wifi that requires you to complete a guest page fails until you reset the device or network settings. My iPhone 5 did not have this issue, strangely enough I figured it would.   The kicker is the iPad Mini appears to connect but fails to open any web pages. This is just one of many problems I have experience with this device?

Yup. I see the same problem with my iPad 2 (iOS 6.0.1). I frequent 3 Starbucks regularly and have problems at all of those locations (i.e., 'connects', but no log on page). Only way to make it work on those networks seems to be resetting the network settings, but that blows away the home and work wifi settings (where the iPad is working fine).

I know it isn't the Starbucks network, since I also have an iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0.1), and it works fine (i.e., get log on page immediately) at those locations.

There appears to be tons of threads on this topic. Anyone heard of solutions aside from resetting the network settings?

Have you tried iOS 6.1? (Released Jan 28)

I installed it to my iPad 2 and connecting to various Starbucks hotspots works fine now, i.e., no more resetting network settings every time. The log on page comes up consistently and reasonably quickly, too.

In any case, you might want to give 6.1 a try if you haven't yet. Good luck.
