Did you mix the audio to be surround? You cannot do this inside of FCP, you need to do this in Soundtrack Pro. Then you export the surround mix to FCP...it will be 5 audio tracks (if Dolby 5.1) or 7 tracks (if Dolby 7.1).
Then go into the SEQUENCE SETTING, click on the AUDIO OUTPUTS tab, and click on LOAD AUDIO OUTPUT PRESET...choose "5.1 monitoring."

Thanks. It was mixed for surround sound. I have 6 wav files. Will try it. My worry is that once i get it into FCP... how do I get it out as a ProRes without using one of the built in audio presets. Ac3 isn't listed.

Well, in the sequence settings, change the audio out to DISCREET channels...export a QT Movie, self contained. Take that into Compressor. If you need a ProRes Video, AC3 audio...then choose that there. Yes, you will be recompressing the video, but ProRes can stand up to multiple recompressions without degrading the image.
