My count has changed so much I'm freaked. Did a 'feedback' but now I'm concerned that it's going to nowhere. I'm not a stockholder but I do have a i-pod classic, i-pad but all this talked me out of i=phone so we went Android. apple was to be simple easy for non-geeks; please don't reach to the technos! Everyone thinks the 'young' people are techno savy; I train software app for business and most young only play games; learning 'processes' and 'techno' is not their strong suits....

I downloaded iTFW, and mapped it to my Music folder (windows), and asked it to 'check' - and it found 365 songs.
You should have set it to the iTunes Media folder rather than Music. Any mp3 files in Music that were outside of the iTunes folders, previously added to iTunes and copied into the iTunes Media folder would have been added again, thereby creating duplicates.
And is there any way to remove duplicates ?
Select the Songs view, hold down shift and use View > Show Exact Duplicate Items. Sort the list on Date Added and remove the duplicates added today.

There are many reports about users missing songs. One of my puzzlements about the ITunes list is that under a circumstance I haven't yet been able to recreate, if I clicked on a checkbox it did not check the song but instead made it disappear from the list. I haven't been able to find documentation of this apparent bug (It must be a bug, right?) but It seems very possible that it is connected with the disappearance of tunes, albums etc.
TuringT addressed another issue - the relocation of podcasts from the podcast list to the music list - which he explained was due to podcast classification requiring that the item have an Album name. Again, I wonder if there is some such issue at work here, as well.
I will have to google ITFW.
BTW, as for being a shareholder, it was a happy accident thirty years ago. It was happier about three m onths ago, but still. I am also an IPad/Pod user with other things to do than mess with ITunes.
The shareholder meeting is on the 27th. I am seriously thinking of attending.

iTunes 11 is the biggest mistake Apple has made with ANY software. Everytime I try to connect to the Store, I get a dialog window saying "iTunes has stopped working". I understand that this version is still very new, however it's been about 2 1/2 months now. Besides, a specialist called me wanting me to describe what is happening, so that's another reason why it should have been fixed. This never ceases and is VERY frustrating to me. I love Apple, but if this doesn't stop, I might as well just use another media program. Overall, Apple, I'm very disappointed with this new update.

You are talking about Version 11 right? Then you are not the only one ;-)
It got so much worth.
Before there was the menu on the left hand sight and you had a nice overview.
Now everything is hidden behind buttons - no overview at all.
Sometimes even the button is not shown, e.g. the connected device while I am in the store.
And the buttons always appear somewhere else - somtimes my iphone is on the right, then on the left ...???
I also hate the scrollbars: they only pop up if you hoover with the mouse above the menu. So if not you dont't see if there is more, how much (length of bar) and - you cannot goal with your mouse at it for scrolling because you don't even see it.
And sometimes I find it confusing: Am I in the store or "at home"?
Less overview, confusing, more clicks, less practical ... how could they do this?

DungHo asked: "I believe Apple release Itunes 11.0.2 today. anyone try it yet ??"
Not on your life! I'm sticking with iTunes 10.7 forever!
As others have mentioned, I've tried leaving polite feedback and asked for responses, but I don't get any reply at all, from anyone. Apple really has screwed this up in one of the biggest and most unprofessional ways possible.

Can you email the version to me that you downloaded? I learned my lesson and, like you, will download mine from now on. That's what I get for trusting iTunes!

Sorry to break it to you all but all you need to do is spend two weeks with the new tunes and you will be happier with it than any other past itunes. I am a happy camper.

Well, I'm happy that you're happy because I'm sure as **** not. I've spent well more than two weeks with it and it still *****. Apple is beginning to act like Microsoft. They just fixed something that was not broke.

@SebazBiohazard......frankly, you're deluded. Have you read any one of the previous 71 pages of this thread at all ?
As someone who has lost over 100 items - make that 101 since last night, as my wife informed me her entire playlists disappeared as well - then 'spending two weeks' with it to recover data it should not have lost is a nonsense.
There again, maybe you are The Apple Troll ?
