I'm posting this as a section to help anyone who may be having problems networking/crashing with 10.4.6.
I went back through and read several threads and thought it might help to make a condensed thread. . .

The 10.4.6 update seems to be stable. I've tested AFP, SMB/CIFS and FTP transfers on 2 different types of Mac hardware with only one common problem.
Problems with AFP on: UNIX-Helios, Windows-SFM, or ExtremeZ-IP volumes are related to a change by Apple to follow a newer AFP spec. Adobe Photoshop CS2 (and some others) could crash while saving the these types of networked volumes because they follow an older AFP spec.
Mac Xserver's AFP are not affected.

I Hope this helps.
