Reporting back from my last reply... Resetting everything and installing the latest update DOES NOT WORK. Don't bother trying it - you'll be disappointed and might lose all your stuff. I wish there was a way to go back to iOS 5 because this is just terrible.

I have seen people talking about doing a DFU.  But, not sure how to go about that.

I found a way on youtube to go back to an older version IOS, but the video was about 1 yr old, and i tried it, and evidently Apple has since fixed that where you cant do that anymore.  i dont know why Apple will not let anyone do that, since the newer IOS that they have come out with are complete GARBAGE!!!!

    Miket502:

Unfortunately, there is another term for jailbreaking for android phone, it is called "Root" your phone..
Samsung phone is not rooted, and there are limitation for some, but not many though....

I won't bother rooting my phone, because I have what I need....

Regarding DFU, here are links to three articles which were posted in this forum early on:

If it doesn't work the first time, try it again.  It worked for me.

Try replacing the battery to see if it is the OS.

FYI: I too had the horrible battery drain problem (50% in just 2hrs).  This was before 6.1.1 was out, so I decided to do a complete drain/charge cycle to try and "recalibrate" the battery (thinking the calibration was blown away by the update).

Well, it driained quickly to about 3% in 4Hrs of active use, then stayed there slowly drifting down to 1% in about 12hrs of standby use (me checking it about every hour or so, sometimes more often).

It finally died completely after a total of 27hrs from being removed from charger at 100%.

After approx 3 complete charge/drain cycles, it appears roughly back to normal, although it does seem to be slightly worse off than 5.x, but nothing as horrbile as right after the upgrade.  It very well may just be the added CPU load of 6.x causing the slightly higher batt drain.

    Good luck !

I did come up with one other way to deal with this issue.

As consumers, we can write to the Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau and Apple Inc and complain about this issue. I have had success in the past with dealing with companies who want to ignore issues with their products. There seems to be dead silence in acknowledging that all of us have jumped through hoops – restores, draining batteries, resets, backups, set up as a new phone, take it to the Apple Store....…NOTHING works to get the battery life to where it was before the upgrade.

HELLO APPLE Inc…..  Please ACKNOWLEDGE us and our issue or we will start boycotting your products. You need us, we don’t need you.

141 pages of people trying to troubleshoot YOUR issue. YOU are responsible to your consumers if you want to keep them as your consumers.

I like my iPhone, but I can sure live with some other makers phone.  Do you not want to acknowledge this issue or are you unable to correct it?

I am starting to agree with the people that this is just your way to force us to upgrade.

We, the consumers who buy your product REQUEST A RESPONSE.  Hear us or lose us.

I for one and done with messing around with all these home fixes. The Apple Store couldn't help. If Apple doesn't give us a fix or ackowledge that there is an issue I am done with you.

It does not help! Battery charge lasts even less time with 6.1.2!!!!!!!!!!

Just turn all calender off in setting>iCloud. Or maybe also Exchange.

That gives less CPU load, probably related to network activity. I have been syncironizng the calender only with iTunes.
