Feb 20, 2013 11:18 PM in response to Alister452by BurgeoningPower,I really don't know what to say after discovering that I am not the only one who is facing this poor battery situation after updating to whichever new iOS released respectively
iOS 6.1.2 is giving me more problems with battery than iOS 6.1
I also tried what Lawrence Finch suggested earlier here but still.....it's not helping. I restored my iPhone 4S setting it as a new phone and not taking the back up AT ALL......and it still is the same. So the problem is something else.
Now I am really upset carrying bomb in my hand all day figuring out every now and then .....how far am I till this thing shuts off!

Feb 20, 2013 11:41 PM in response to Alister452by FouadAM,Yes, a lot of folks seem to have this issue... it is really annoying. i have an iphone 4s , upgraded to IOS 6.1.2, and the battery is draining like crazy... read many blogs and forums, called up people, and i was told that there is no solution but to wait for Apple to release a new update !!!

Feb 21, 2013 3:46 AM in response to Alister452by TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar,I too am having problems with battery.
I was in Barcelona for the weekend and did not realise that the 6.1.1 'upgrade' had battery drain issues - fun trying to find my way back to hotel without my pinned location on google maps.
Very unhappy that there is no iOS roll back option.
Surely in this instance apple should allow to last working version.
iphone is the last purchase i will make with apple.
another loyal customer gone from the apple books....

Feb 21, 2013 4:04 AM in response to Alister452by steve19800,I don't see how Apple is able to improve the battery life for the xx times. The battery capacity is simply too small for this machine. While standby times might be increased, usage time might not increase at all. Insufficient battery capacity. Maybe the weakness of solid alumunium phone is its battery!

Feb 21, 2013 4:11 AM in response to Alister452by Herring26,I was getting major drains with 6.1, full charge lasting 4 hours but 6.1.2 has fixed it for me so I guess I'm just lucky.

Feb 21, 2013 4:30 AM in response to Herring26by Sattabass,I seem to be making a little progress, well should i say the battery isn't draining as quick!!!.
I deleted my email accounts, in my case Hotmail, Gmail and iCloud and also signed out of Facebook. I then did the reset holding both the power button and the home button together until the apple sign appeared. Allowed it to reboot up and then set up my email accounts again and signed into Facebook. I have then charged the phone up to max and so far so good. Been using my iphone 4s for around 4 hours now and the battery is currently at 68%...which is better than yesterdays issues - it was dead after 3hours. Hope this may be of help.

Feb 21, 2013 5:18 AM in response to Alister452by Ed_Peixoto,The iPhone show "Usage 11 hours" "Stand-by 11 hours" I believe that is the problem the iPhone in stand-by is working like a usage....
-
Feb 21, 2013 5:36 AM in response to Ed_Peixotoby Lawrence Finch,Yes, that means there is an app running continuously in background. Once you identify that app and kill it your battery life should be back to normal. You can start by killing all of the apps in the Quick Launch ribbon.

Feb 21, 2013 6:33 AM in response to Lawrence Finchby Didimo,Yesterday I lkill all the applications but the battery drop to 4% in only 4 hours. The last sunday the battery was working fine (about 14-16 hours before charging with 20% remaining). I changed the MS-Exchange config to get messages every 15 minutes, instead of "push", but the battery still dropping 25% every hour.

Feb 21, 2013 6:45 AM in response to Didimoby Lawrence Finch,Delete your Exchange account. Reboot your phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, ignoring "Slide to power off" when it appears). Do not add back the Exchange account immediately, but check the battery. If the problem is resolved then add the Exchange account back. It should be OK after adding it back.
If it is not resolved with no Exchange account and you have other email accounts try the same with them.
If the problem is not email, social media apps are the next suspects. Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google+, etc.
In addition, if you have not recalibrated your battery gauge recently you should do that. Drain the battery until the phone shuts off and does not restart, then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger.
The final test if none of the above fixes the problem is to restore the phone as New and do not add any apps or email accounts. If the problem is still present you should take the phone to an Apple store for exchange; you have a hardware problem. If a phone with nothing on it has good battery life you can try restoring your backup. If the problem returns you have corrupt data in your backup and you will need to restore as New again, and manually add your content back. This is very rare, however.

Feb 21, 2013 7:00 AM in response to Alister452by Didimo,I turned off "push" in the mail configuration and set "get" to every 15 minutes, in addition to kill all the applications and turned off the wifi. From that moment the battery is discharged at a rate of 1% every 10 minutes (similar to how it worked before the patch). I think the problem is related with mail software in this version.
-
Feb 21, 2013 7:09 AM in response to Didimoby Lawrence Finch,Yes, it is related to mail software, but has nothing to do with the version. Mail software has always been quirky on the iPhone. As I said, delete any push email accounts, reboot the phone, and add them back and it should be OK.
