I want to create events that (1) occur over a period of several days but (2) never last more than a few hours at a time, as distinct from taking up the whole day.

How does one do this ?

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion

    Hi,

If the events last a few hours on several repeating days. Set the event up for the first day for the hours it happens, then make the event repeat using the 'repeat' option in the event edit.

    Hope that helps.

    Best wishes

If you have an event that only happens for as few hours every day and happens ver several days it is a repeating event.  You can set a repeating event to end after a certain number of times or on a date.

If you can be more concrete about what you are wanting to acheve it may help.

To make a timed repeating event from 10am-12noon from the 1st March for the next four days.

    1. Open iCal and switch to Week view.

    2. Click and drag from the 10am point to 12noon.

    3. Type the name of the event.

    4. Double click on the event and from the info popup window click Edit.

    5. Click where it says none next to where it says repeat and change it to say Every day.

    7. Click on where it says Never next to where it says end and change it to say After.

    8. Where it says 1 time click the 1 and change it to the number 4.

    9. Click Done.
