Someone sent me a really long message in imessage and now it doesn't work. I can open the app but its just a blank screen and after about 10 seconds it closes itself. Help me fix this please.

iPad 2, iOS 6.1.2

The first thing to try is resetting the iPad.  Hold the on/off and home keys together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

If that fixes it, great.  If not, the next thing to try is to restore the iPad.  Plug it in to iTunes, let it sync, then choose "Restore" from the iTunes' menu on the right side.

I can't imagine why you would not restore. If you don't have access to a computer, I guess I could understand ... But even then there might be one to borrow.

Have you tried double-clicking on the home key, finding the Messages app in the recently used list, pressing down on the Messages icon and closing it by tapping on the white dash in the red circle?

You can also try turning iMessage off and back on in Settings.
