That is incorrect, you can use RAW rice. You may need to blow off some rice dust from the device when you remove it but it definitely will not turn to sludge. Please stick with posting correct information and stop arguing with people who are correct...but really, really late.

Used to agree with that, don't now, you're welcome to your opinions, I'm not.

Used it on countless number of electronic devices, has been recommended for at least 30 years (although I prefer silica gel packets), recommended by a number of magazines, websites, etc. In 30 years I have NEVER seen it turn to sludge.

You are pretty much alone in your new opinion.

Put it in a bowl, add a little water, wait.

You wipe down the device before you put it in, only a moron would add water to it.

I have put them in a bowl, baggie, etc. 100s of them. Even motorola handie-talkies. Have never had it turn to sludge. Ever. And you are the only person I have ever seen say not to use raw rice and that sludge would result. I can point to hundreds of links that recommend it, can you point to a site that says it will turn to sludge?

I have seen people do all kinds of things, so I temper my advice to them.  Use Silica Gel packs, no dust and they don't degrade when moistened.

And you are the only person I have ever seen say not to use raw rice and that sludge would result.

Search ASC, I am far from alone

And many are mine, but I have changed my mind from practical experience.

If you feel compelled to carry on with this take it to the lounge.

Sorry, only once in a while check the Full Host Bar and rarely post now, I no longer waste my time with the Water Cooler, it is a serious time ****.

I have searched the ASC and I have never found a post saying the rice, or the rice dust, will turn to sludge.

And when I was referring to links I wasn't talking about in the ASC, I was talking to hundreds of other sites that recommend the use of raw rice, inlcuding Consumer Reports and others. And as I said I have never seen anyone other than you say this here, at least not since 2005. If you managed somehow to turn rice dust to sludge while drying a device you did something wrong.

And no, I don't want to continue. I don't argue with truthers, birthers or other fringe people either.
