I just want Apple to know how dissappointed I was when I found out my Plantronics Backbeat bluetooth headset would not pair with my new iPhone 5. The headset worked perfectly with my iPhone 4s. APPLE!!!!!!!!!! What are you doing about it?????

Ok guys, I think I accidently stumbled upon a solution to the problem.

After haggling for hours to pair my iPhone 5 with my bluetooth speaker set, I somehow managed crash my phone and it rebooted in safe mode. And guess what?! I tried pairing just out of curiosity and it worked like a charm!

Not claiming that it would work for everyone, but its worth a try. Good luck!

My problem is that my iphone 5 will pair but will intermittently drop the connection. It happens with my Jabra handsfree and my Zooka. I'm frustrated because I didn't have these issues with my iphone 4. Anyone have a solution?

I've got a Lexus IS F and have the same problem with connecitivity.  My iPhone 4S originally worked perfectly.  Then I made the mistake of upgrading to the iPhone 5 and lo and behold my new phone didn't even see my car.  In the meantime, I made the mistake of formatting my 4S.  Figuring my trusty old 4S would still connect, I did a reload of the data on it.  Guess what?  Now my 4S won't recognize my car either!

I made a complaint to Apple and was told that they had never heard of this issue before.  After I insisted there was a problem they ramped my complaint up the ladder.  The next person I spoke to said that they had heard about the issue but, didn't think it was widespread.  That was 5 months ago.  They promised to keep me up to date on progress of resolving the issue.  Of course, I never heard another word.

Here we are two updates later and Apple still hasn't addressed the issue and doesn't seem to care.  After being a loyal iPhone user for 5 years,  I'm ready to throw my iPhone away and buy a Samsung S3...

Right. Here goes. I recently upgraded my phone to Iphone 5. I tried pairing it with my van and the stereo/sat nav/etc etc. But just couldnt get it to pair. My phone could see the headend. But just couldn't get them to talk. So tonight when we were coming back from pub.(wife was driving) I decided to try again. As we all know there are 2 passwords that are commonly used for bluetooth. 0000 or 1234. My previous phones i have always used 0000. But just on the off chance. I tried the 1234 not expecting it to work. But it did. So i now can pair and use my phone with my vehicle.I however never made a call to someone to check that they can hear and i can hear. But fingers crossed, all is good now.

Same here. I am paired to my Jabra Extreme 2, which paired just fine.  However, the connection will go mute for no reason at all. I am talking or listening. The person on the other end cannot hear a thing, I cannot hear a thing.... I have to get into the iphone and switch from Jabra Extreme 2 to iphone, then back again and all is well. BTW, it did this to me while on speaker phone with Apple Support as well (they had nothing to say about that).

Apple replaced my phone once, no questions asked (kudos to Apple). But it looks like I am going in again for another phone or some software juju work.  This is really bad!! This is my business phone. I am on the phone with clients, with fellow sales team members.... so I get to embarrass myself with them and explain how my new iPhone 5 may well go silent on us at some undertermined time... and beg them not to hang up, and let them know that my Apple iPhone 5 is not a good business tool. I really hope this gets fixed quick. It is bad for my business.

Shooze1... I had this problem on my Lexus Rx350 and my Civic Si. I dont know is our scenarios are the same, but I switched phones and it confused both cars. Had some adjustments to make here and there and the cars would not recognize me phone.... It turned out that what I needed to do was to delete the phone from the both cars bluetooth device list, then add the iPhone back in.  All is now well. I ran into this with my HTC droid as well.

Same problem with connecting to a 2006 BMW via bluetooth. I tested it with two iPhone 5's - niether with connect. Tested it with an iPhone 4s and it connected perfectly. All were running 6.1

This is clearly an issue at Apple that needs to fix.

The 5 would not even "see" my apple bluetooth keyboard!

Hello, there is a similar problem using Iphone5 and blackberry BT headset HS-700. This is a brand new headset, that was working grate with Samsung Galaxy and Iphone3GS, but now I have Iphone5 and it doesn’t work right. They sync and connect right, but when I use Siri to make a phonecall, I don’t get any sound.

iPhone's only support A2DP bluetooth protocol.  If you're not able to see the device when it's set in discoverable mode have you tried toggling airplane mode or updating the firmware of the headsut?
