It is the policy of Apple to refund your money within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. It is also the policy of Apple to repair or replace faulty iPhones for a period of one year under their standard warranty.
If you purchased yours from the Orange Telecommunication Company at Kagran, your complaint lies with them.

If Apple has an Apple Retail store in Vienna take it to them for replacement
Although generally in law your issue is with Orange
but Apple will always look at an iPhone and handle the issue if
that is a easier soluion for the customer
The Genius bar is open to all Apple users

Many thanks for your supportive comment. I just learnt about another Austrian who had exactly the same problem. Orange has confirmed that this is the policy of Apple not to replace faulty phones after their activation (even if a faulty feature is detected immediately) but send it to Apple for repairs. And this has been agreed policy between the two companies. I just realised that Orange is a multibillion giant too and, hence, immune to any criticism. Still waiting for my phone to be repaired. Best regards, Oleg
