Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The MacBook Pro uses OS X as its operating system. OS X has got its own security systems, so you don't need any antivirus that can make your MacBook slow or damage Mac OS X. See > http://www.reedcorner.net/mmg

No you don't, Mac AV is generally useless, and some are harmful. Mac OS X has built-in utilities like XProtect and Gatekeeper. Stay on top of software updates as well and you'll be fine. Disable Java in your web browser, as most malware takes advantage of exploits in Java. If you need Java, just be sure to stay vigilant about updates to Java.
