My iPod touch won't let me download past purchases

    Happened to me just this evening when a visiting neighbor kid logged out of my iTunes and into his and now despite his disassociating my device with his Apple ID, I still can update, download, etc. any of my itunes stuff now on my iPad 2. I am EXTREMELY UPSET over this and find this is absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for. So much for keeping folks honest and making them listen to their own music when over at friends' houses. I am likely finished with iTunes and I have spent thousands of dollars with Apple just in iTunes alone. I will be likely switching to Amazon from here on. This is BEYOND ridiculous.

    Your past purchases were probably bought under another Apple ID. Are you using a new ID?

    You are going to have to state a little more clearly what your issue is. You went to a neighbor kid's house and logged out of your iTunes on your iPad? You went into Settings>iTunes & App Stores, and logged out? And then what? What do you mean he "disassociated" your device from his Apple ID?

     

    Having a rant isn't going to help us to address or help you fix your issue....

     

    What exactly did you do, what is happening now?

    I did. Thanks and contacted Apple about this. Appears many have had exact problem & thus far, from what I've read, there are no solutions other than to NOW KNOW to never, ever allow anyone to log into their iTunes account on anything you own, or risk being locked out for an entire 90 days. I will await Apple's response. I'm betting there are far more than the many I found on a different thread w the exact same issue (and those all said they were going to use Amazon in the future bc of this ridiculous policy, as Amazon supposedly at least allows you to prove your identity. Hard & unfair lesson learned. I'd never have guessed...

    Apple sets the restriction so that it can helps prevent users from stealing apps from other peoples accounts or using another users account to download their content.

    This kis had no access to my stuff at all when logged into his account & once he was logged in (if I'd known about it & wanted to, all I could've done was listen to his music. Once he logged out, there was no content of his I could've accessed. On an iPhone or iPad, I'm curious as to how this is a threat. I can understand on a computer w a disk burner, etc, but not on a mobile Apple device.

    My answer Gail, to you ignorant post was removed. It simply stated that I gave all necessary information in the original post & if that wasn't enough for you, perhaps you weren't the right one to be answering it & obviously you aren't. Just read another caustic reply from you to someone else. Please, find something more suitable, like casting spells or something.

    Alright, so now I'm going to throw in my 2 cents... I am NOT an MAC user; I am using Windows 7.  The Windows environment allows multiple users, with discreet ID's to securly log into a single computer.  (MAC may also allow this, no idea).  My family each has their own Apple ID and their own music libraries, which exist in their own files on their own Windows ID on this computer.  Not only does Home Sharing NOT work on a single computer with multiple ID's, but we have no ability to access our old purchased items due to the association issue.  Therefore, my husband has to wait 90 days to get his purchases (which he paid for) to update his new IPOD, because my Apple ID associated to this computer.

     

    I know Windows has its share of problems - but seriously Apple, you have discovered new and unique ways to torture people.  NO WAY to download items we purchased on the SAME computer in ITunes???  How is that keeping copyright infringment in check????

    I am arguing this with technical support right now via email. I use a Mac and have 2 user logs and each have their own iTunes librarys and iTunes account. Becuase my girlfriend downloaded previous purchases on her account, my entire computer became associated to her account and I am unable to download any previous purchases on my account or log into my iTunes Match account. For me this is a huge problem becasue I sometimes purchase music on my iPhone or iPad and then I download later on my computer and sync to my iPod classic to play in my car system. I have to wait 62 days before I can download my music to my Mac and sync to my classic to play in my car, 62 days before I can listen to music I purchsed. This is a nice way of Apple telling every individual to not share a computer or have multiple user logs, but get your own computer. This is absolutly rediculous! Apple does have an article on this but it needs to be more discriptive for people like us with special cituations like iTunes Match or multiple user logs on a single computer.
