Saw something somewhere about an IPhone crashing after installing an update.  Should I go through with this one??

That's your decision. This particular update provided a fix for issues with people using Microsoft Exchange 2010, so if you are not using that type of mail system, then you can wait for the next update. When that one comes out, find out what it is fixing/ugrading to determine if you want to go ahead with the update.

If you have a 1 on your Apps Store icon, then you should click on the Apps icon and then on the Update option at the bottom to see what is in there to update. I have not experienced that indicator showing up for an IOS update - only for updates of other Apps on my iPhone.

There is a badge on the Settings icon whenever there is an iOS update. To my knowledge, the only way to clear it is to install the update.

I don't have one on my iPhone for 6.1.2.....

IOS updates are installed via the Settings option, not the Apps store....

Weird. I did on my iPhone and iPad. The badge was on the Settings icon. I didn't really pay attention to it for 6.1.2 though, but I had noticed it when 6.1 came out. I waited a day or two before upgrading my iPhone, and the badge was there until I installed it.

Yeah, not sure what that is about. I don't remember if there was anything there for 6.1.1, but I don't think so....

Does it show up on the Settings icon on your Home screen? The reason I'm fairly certain that I had nothing there is because the update badges make me a little crazy...Whenever I have badges on anything (Mail, Apps Store, Messages, etc.) I have to go in and take care of them right away. I even moved my Apps Store icon to the second home screen so I didn't have to look at the update badges. One or another of my apps has an update pretty much every day. I guess I'm a little OCD when it comes to keeping it all nice and orderly....

So, not saying it was impossible that it was there, but it certainly isn't there now for 6.1.2....so, go figure....

I just checked my iPad, which I have not updated to 6.1.2, and there is no badge. But I swear there was one or 6.1. Or maybe I was hallucinating. ;)

But anyway, I'm totally with you on the OCD thing. Badges drive me nuts, and I have to clear them as soon as possible.

SAVE YOURSELF the trouble and DO NOT update to 6.1.2---I had problems with the latest update forcing me to erase my phone to default settings.  It was OK after that functionally, but I just went to hook up my iphone 4s to sync with itunes and low and behold I cannot sync at all due to an "internal device error"...  The saga continues.

I updated my iPad 3 to 6.1.2 and now I have badge problems on my App store . Great.
