I am trying to find out what applications/programs are being opened up when computer is turned on


iMac (24-inch Early 2008), also have iphone 5 and newsest IPad

    Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items

    It will show you what applications open when computer is turned on. You can add or delete applications in this window.

    I am familiar with that I only have 3/6 items open, but I have seen a much larger list that  you  also can add or delete but now I am not sure if it has to do with logging on but you can add programs and then it has a check box to turn them on or off.. I am using a program that requires 2 other ? programs/applications to work and I need to find out if both of them are running. Sorry for the confusion
