Email is stuck in outbox. How do I access it?

Hi all

I had this problem - a stuck message in Outbox. But many of the posted solutions didn't work for me:

. Powering off didn't work

. Edit was greyed out so I couldn't delete the message

. Repeated attempts via Airplane Mode didn't work

Here's what did work:

. I deleted the Mail icon

. I went to Appstore and reinstalled it

. I then went to Settings -> Accounts & Passwords. My email account was still listed there. But

when I selected the account and the next page came up I found that the 'Mail' button wasn't green (presumably,

deleting the Mail icon had done this)

. I moved the button to green

. I exited Settings

. I opened my Mail icon - hey presto when my email account appeared, both Outbox and the annoyingly unsent

message it had contained) had vanished. Presumably deleted, as it isn't in the Sent box

Hope this works for someone else...

Try rebooting the phone by holding both power and home button until apple logo appears and after the phone has restarted have a look at outbox and see if there is any change

I had this question too. I found the answer on another forum where a user answered his own question. He simply put the phone in airplane mode. This made it so that it would no longer attempt to send data. After that you can choose edit, then delete the stuck outgoing email. Worked perfectly for me.

Simply turned on airplane mode - then could go in and delete from the outbox.

AIrplane mode worked perfectly and was able to delete from outbox. Thanks 🙂

THANK YOU!!!! I've been struggling with this for weeks.

When I rebooted as you suggested, the EDIT link in the upper right showed active and I was able to delete the email. The airplane mode thingy didn't work for me.

Turn iPhone 6s into Airplane Mode Doesn't Work.

I have to Restarted it (by press and hold both Home + Power Button in Airplane Mode).

Then the "Edit" button active which will allow me to delete it.

😠OMG this is very ignoring!

Sometime affected the pictures or documents sharing via email.

TThanks so much for this great tip. This has happened to me twice and it is annoying. I went to airplane mode and then restarted my iPhone 6 Plus and then I could access the edit button in the outbox and delete the stuck email.

Neither aiplane mode or rebooting worked for me. I merely switched off my data, both cellular and wi fi and only then could I trash the stuck email!

Struggled with this the past week in my iPhone 6Plus. Googled for tips but no suggestions worked. Then at the tail end of one discussion string I fell upon an idea that finally did the trick so I wanted to be sure to share it in hopes of helping someone else: settings/mail/choose email account that has the stuck email/under advanced choose mail/outgoing mail server: TURN OFF/very important TOUCH DONE twice or it won't hold. Then click out of settings and open your mail app/icon, touch Mailboxes in upper left corner, touch edit, scroll down to Outbox where the stuck email is and swipe to the left and touch delete. Wella.
