I have an iphone 4s and I'm trying to connect it to my wifi network. But I made a mistake in the iphone settings when setting it up. Now the phone tries to access the network but I get this unable to connect message. So how do I make the iphone forget that network and so I can set program it in again?

Method 1: Tap on the ">" to the right of the network name, then tap "Forget this network"

Method 2: Settings/General/Reset - Reset network settings will forget all networks

Please define "failed". You mean it doesn't forget the network and prompt for a password again?

Ok you got me......the process of forgetting the prior networks was executed....however the second desired result of connecting my wifi was not. I have a secure network which details I wont get give out. Needless to say I made it possible for the iphone to connect as I have done with several other wireless devices in my house. This Iphone is the only one that refuses. I keep getting this unable to connect message. I give it the name and pw and the iphone detects the network but when it comes to connecting to it attempts are unsuccessful. To make matters worse or more interesting...the phone keeps asking for a yahoo email acct pw....which I dont have as I use google.

Make a backup. Restore in iTunes to newest iOS 6.1.2. Setup as new. Sync personal data using tabs in iTunes. Observe the errant wifi netwok.

Problem solved...after reprograming the phone what ever function that was causing the phone not to connect is gone. The iphone works to perfection.
