I've been beating my head against the wall trying EVERYTHING I've read to try...turns out that my AVG virus protection was interferring with the process. Simple but true. I disabled by internet coverage only and I'm good now.

same here. Have tried everything in the support reccomendations. Only been a problem since my computer updated itunes. Have tried my laptop and my desktop but no success. It will charge and play but I can't change anything on it using the iTunes software. Computers don't recognise the shuffle at all.
