It's the same as a regular iPad, just with a much larger storage capacity.
I personally would never be totally iPad dependant. There's too many programs that I use that won't run on the iPad for me to ever give it up, but that's me.
The iPad is made to consume content. Read, watch, listen. If that's all you're wanting to do, then sure, stay with the iPad. If you need to create stuff, then you may want a regular computer. That's kinda the benchmark. Data consumption or data creation.
Also, since the iPad lacks flash and java there are some websites it won't work on. So may want to bear that in mind. If a site is built on one of those programs you'll need to find an app or workaround to make the site work.

Thank you guys, I therefore stipulate that at this point in time a computer is UNAVOIDABLE.
Again, I would rather spend 2 to 300 dollars extra and get myself the MBAir.
