I just upgraded my iMac today to OSX 10.8.2 from OSX 10.6.x and have had random crashes all day. It just happened to me for the 4th time in as many hours. Obviously, I can't go on like this. First time it happened was when I was messing with my Razer mouse settings just after the install of 10.8, and I thought there might be a conflict with the Razer drivers and the OSX mouse drivers. Second time I was simply browsing the internet and it crashed for no apparent reason. Third time I was loading a mission in Starcraft 2...it was not the game's fault, as after reboot, the mission was working fine. Fourth time was when I was browsing the internet again, using Firefox with no other apps open.

Here's the error report, can somebody help me please? This is very frustrating after just paying 20 bucks for an "upgrade" that rendered my computer extremely unstable.

Most likely, one of these are the culprits.

    com.razer.common.razerhid    5.52

Boot into safe mode (restart holding down SHIFT key). If no KP, then disable these, reenable one at time to determine which. If KP, then most likely hardware related. Run the Apple Hardware Test suite, extended tests at least twice, followed by Rember.  See

If you have a wireless keyboard, press the shift key immediately after hearing the tone, or use a wired keyboard.

OK, after a bit of googling to find out where my **** Library folder went, I was able to uninstall Sophos

Was the uninstaller buried in there somewhere, or did you just remove stuff that said "sophos."

If you did the latter, it might not have been uninstalled.

You disable them by uninstalling the software that installed them using the uninstaller that came with the software.

Have you checked Safari > Extensions for Razer?

Or, in your HD > Applications > Utilities Folder ?  Is there a Razer folder there?  Look inside to see if there is an uninstaller there.

That's why you should never go installing stuff without completely understanding how to uninstall it.

Sometimes the uninstaller is on the dmg that the software was distributed on, sometimes it is part of the installer package, and sometimes, the developers will put the uninstaller in a folder on the hard drive. And, you may have to just go to the website and download one (or the instructions on where to find the stuff to delete).

Just deleting those kexts will likely cause other problems as the software that wants it to run will be attempting to find the file and activate it. The kext might not exist in a findable place. It could be inside another file package.

To find Hidden and System files, select Other from the Criteria popup menu. Then, go through the list and find System Files and Visibility and check the boxes next to them to keep them in the menu.

Then, add those options to the Search Criteria.

    Screen Shot 2013-02-27 at 6.03.02 AM.png

Then, wherever you start from, it will search down into that hierarchy for files that match that additional criteria.

Googling for it, Razer seems to be a mouse driver.

If Sophos was that old, it probably was not compatible.

Those things have to dig in so deep that almost any changes to the OS make them break.
