I did exactly what others suggested--delete the app on the phone and then restart. The podcasts, which had been invisible on "music," were now back the way they used to be, and no longer stopping every thirty seconds or so. Thanks everyone for the help. Apple, ARE YOU LISTENING????

Same for me, this app is rubbish!, please fix it!. I can't download podcast because each time the app freeze and close itself!, then click the download arrow it's very difficult for me, big hand!
Can you please free the podcasts so I can download them without using the podcast app?, as before. Or fix it!

I am having the same problem. The podcast will stop playing at random intervals. Sometimes I can restart it by hitting the play button again, other times it is set to pause and clicking the pauses button does nothing. It is really frustrating.
Another annoying problem is that sometimes I will pause a podcast and exit the program and then the podcast will turn on again at random times and start playing when I am not even using my phone. This could turn out very badly since I listen to a wide variety of podcast shows that may not always be appropriate for whatever environment I may be in when it decides to start playing again. I've had to keep the volume turned down on my phone just in case it should decide to start playing when I walk away from my desk.
Sometimes I will be listening to music on the music player and a random podcast will start playing instead of the music I was listening to. This phone is annoying. I am regretting ever buying an iPhone instead of a Samsung. Not worth the price difference in my book! I notice the posts about this go back to September. Why no response from Apple?

As of iOS 7 beta 4, the podcasts app seems to be doing relatively the same thing. Audio only podcasts will continue playing when the app is left, but video podcasts do not and I can't find a way to play them as I have in the past. In iOS 6, I was able to leave the app, turn off the screen, double press the Home button, and then play the video podcast as audio and then proceed to other apps as needed.
It would be nice if podcasts (audio and video) always played, even if the app is left, until another source takes over (Music, Youtube, etc.)
Going back to the Music app to manage podcasts and losing the sync feature is not an option!
