Suggest you clean it...

Turn the mouse upside down and run it vigorously over a plain piece of paper or, better yet, a microfiber cloth.

poor boy toy tried the upside down mouse cleaning tip but mouse track ball still will not scroll downward. the up scroll has never worked as good as now. thinking maybe should replace this mighty mouse with new one, hey?

Hi:

New ones are not that expensive, but I would try running it up and down (vigorously) on microfiber cloth or a towel or something.

If that does not fix it...yes I would buy a new one. I like wireless ones anyway

Using Google, you can find instructions on opening the mouse and cleaning the scroll ball. It is a bit tricky, but will fix it (for a while),
