Q: FCP 7 Won't Open Cause I Have Motion 5*

Hi,

When I went to open fcp it said put motion 5 in a different network. I had it in my applications folder and i put it in a folder inside the applications folder and fcp wouldn't open. when I tried putting motion 5 into outside of the applications folder it would not transfer but would only provide a shortcut to my desktop or wherever I was trying to put it. What would be my best route to work this out?

Also i spent a lot of time on my new motion 5 project and didn't realize the project was set at 59fps frame rate. I thought it would take on the frame rate of the video i imported into motion 5. It needs to be 24fps. Is there anything i can do to turn that 59fps motion project into a 24fps project or export it as a 24fps movie?

Thanks,

joe

Here is the user tip regarding fcp installation, etc.  At the end are some notes regarding fcpx and 7 installation on the same system.  I would assume they would apply to your situation

Some formats have a "frame rate" of 59.94 but playback at 23.986 (24p).  It's all very complicated and I'm not sure I understand it completely but you may not have any issues.  Have you tried to bring your exported motion file into your fcp 24p project.   If there is an issue, see if cinematools will "conform" to 24p or worst case scenario, use compressor to convert the file to 24p, setting the correct frame rate in the encoder panel:  video and in the frame controls panel, make sure the retiming is set to best.
