A recipe that I typed on a computer years ago now shows two characters on my Mac as Ω and æ. They should be fraction symbols, like 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4, as in cups or teaspoons. Is there a code equivalent table that would show which fractions the Ω and æ should be?

It's a .txt file if that helps.

It sounds like you are reading a Latin-1 encoded text as if it were MacRoman encoding.  Switching the encoding on your reading app should give you the right text.  æ = 3/4, Ω = 1/2

PS You can't switch encodings on Pages, instead use TextEdit or TextWrangler.

Which is why you should in principle not use fractions, instead use decimals.

Helps if you live in a metric country ie anywhere except the USA.
