I'm setting up After Effects and need to set my Media Cache for fast processing.  I am reading that I should set it to write to a separate hard drive from what I am saving my project to, but I don't know how to navigate to the folder that would write these files.  Where is this located on the system?

What drives do you have in your 4 slots?  How are they configured?

OK, it looks like you have only 1 hard drive in your machine.

The best thing you can do in my option, is to pick up two cheap drives and put them in slots 3&4, format them using DU as a raid stripe.  This will give you very fast scratch space.

With only one drive, make a directory somewhere called "image_cache" and point your program to that directory. It won't help with speed at all.

sorry I don't.  With only one drive you have only one read/write head and can read/write only one thing.  If you have a bunch of ram, maybe a ram disk would help but big scratch files would eat it up pretty quickly and you don't want to start swapping (that competes for the same disk).
