Q: Can my pc software be transferred to a mac?

Link above says that software can be transfered with my files to a MBP. Is this true? Does Migration Assistant transfer all my files from a PC to a MBP w/o any software?

Thanks in advance.

Migration Assistant will move the non-application contents of your PC login directory to your login directory on the Mac. PC application software will not run natively within OS X.

If you want to continue using PC applications after your migration to OS X:

    1. See if Application Software vendor offers OS X version
      1. License transferable?
    2. Investigate Apple's Boot Camp included with OS X.
      1. Run Windows 7 as alternative boot partition on Apple hardware
    3. Virtualization solutions
      1. Run Windows XP,7,8 and PC applications concurrent with OS X
      2. Solutions
        1. VirtualBox (free)
        2. Parallels Desktop (<$100)
        3. VMware (<$100)

Data can be transferred. Programs can not be transferred as they are operating system specific.

So for example, if you had some Word documents you created in Word on a Windows PC you could copy the Word documents to your Apple computer. But you could not transfer Word from your Windows PC to your Apple computer. You would need to buy and install Word for Mac, or use another compatible program on your Apple computer to open and use your copied over Word documents.

Nope. Marking your own posts only gets you a green check mark, or a gold star, but no points.
