So, I'm an exchange student in western Austria now. Adapting to the culture, foods, and dynamics of university abroad! I just installed a fresh version of the Mac OS X 10.8.2 and everything checked out with flying colors at home. Now that I'm in Europe, there's a really annoying problem that's causing issues...

Google Chrome runs slower than a paralyzed snail on the networks here. Firefox would set the ethernet cable on fire because of how fast it is! I cannot identify the problem as to why its such a significant difference between the two browsers.

I get this error alot: "The server can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed."

Also, I'm using Google DNS servers because the ones at the local ISP at my dorm are crap. 85ms ping and 5mbps down, 2 up on a good day. When everyone is on, 1.5 down .2 up 160ms ping. (yuck!)

What is confusing me is that with the power of google's worldwide DNS, Chrome doesn't seem to be using it, irony right?

I should note that I did not have this problem on EPB Fiber.

Any tips?
