OK, it seems clear to me that bootcamp does not work. I have attempted to install windows 7 via bootcamp on a late 2012, 27" inch 1TB fusion drive iMac. I have following the instructions via the guide to the letter. The installation will not start. After the bootcamp assistant windows installation reboot the following is displayed "No bottable device -- insert boot disk and press any key".

And yes, the USB key, formated and prepared by the Bootcamp assisant has been inserted. It just will not boot off the thing.

Bottom line - bootcamp is not working as documented and needs to be fixed by apple.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    Hi Steve

I,ve just installed bootcamp on recently purchased 21.5 imac 1TB hard drive but I was using an SAMSUNG optical drive (TSST corp CDDVDW SE-208DB USB device) {Bought at computerorbit for £27.14}. One time I got the error, you did, this was using the full three options ticked inside the bootcamp software; in other words I had an ISO on disc and 8-ish GB pen drive to receive the windows stuff and bootcamp stuff. Of course with one optical drive could not do all three options simultaneously so put bootcamp software on CD-ROM disc somewhere in this procedure. After the error tried two options and the pen drive would not load and therefore could not continue until I used a DL disc (This is what worked for me without having to resort to actually using the loaded pen drive; as yet).

Can we get specific? OK, among the thousands of others for whom "it" has worked, per Csound1, has anyone on earth gotten Bootcamp 4.0 to install and function correctly on a late 2012 27-inch iMac, either by using an external CD/DVD drive or by using USB drives?  AppleCare told me unequivocally 2 days ago that it will not work yet; they are busy solving the problem; and it will take more than an OS-X revision to fix it, probably a firmware revision.  (I would love to hear news to the contrary, because I really need Bootcamp.)

Some users report problems with Fusion drives.

Why are you using BC4, Mountain Lion comes with BC5

All I can advise is to return your Mac to a single OSX Partition (using Boot Camp), print and read the directions and start again, it is working for many users (but not with the 3Tb drive)

Did you encounter any USB driver issues after installing Windows 7?  Everything is smooth sailing for me on an identical speced iMac up to the point where I install the Apple Windows Support drivers and restart.  USB is dead at that point.
