Q: Aperture will not launch......

As stated AP3 will not launch!

Message says"Aperture cannot open because of a problem" and then there's a long txt message which is all Greek to me.

I have been using AP since it's beginning.

All updates completed.

What's my next step?

Thanks!

    Dyld Error Message:

      Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager

      Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture

      Reason: image not found

The error message means, that your System Library is corrupted. This is not an Aperture problem, that can be fixed by reinstalling Aperture. The best option to fix this would be to reinstall MacOS 10.7.5 on top of your current system, to replace the missing PluginManager.framework in your System Library.

This corruption usually happens, if you install an older version of Final Cut; if you have Final Cut installed, don't reinstall it after reinstalling MacOS X. It should continue to work without reinstalling (seeAperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed).

    Regards

    Léonie

Added: To reinstall Lion, boot into Lion Recovery, see: OS X: About OS X Recovery

If you have a backup from the time, before the problem occurred, you could try to restore the PluginPanager framework /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework from your backup instead of reinstalling MacOS X.

    Thanks,

    I reinstalled AP3 & I'm back up and running.

Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed

    I did not reinstall MacOS.

Should I sit tight and consider all good?

Should I go ahead and reinstall MacOS?

If Aperture is running after reinstalling, it's o.k., just look at the crash log, if the problem occurs again, and check, if you still get "library not loaded" messages.
