    Lawrence, excuse me..

i've just added my account yahoo back, what do you mean by "wait 1 hour before retesting  the battery"? do i have to charge battery at the wall or leave it alone for 1 hour without using it/checking % battery?

thank you so much for your kind help

All I mean is that the battery drain will be high until the account is re-synced, so don't be concerned if it is high for the first hour or so. It it continues to be high after the account sync is complete (all of your email and contacts are restored) then the problem has not been solved.

My very first post and please excuse my English for it is not my native language:

I have an Iphone 4s with the 6.1.2 O.S and I get around 6-7 hours of usage and about 1 day of standby.

Is 6 to 7 hours usage a normal battery consumption for the the phone?

    My usage:

    -3G on only when needed

-Wi-Fi on for about 3-4 hours (Maybe more)

-Use voice calls a number of times during the day with sms messeges

-Checks my e-mail (Yahoo/I-cloud about 2x a day) Push is off

-Plays a number of Temple Run when I wait for my Girlfriend

    -Blue Tooth is off

Thank you very much for the reply

Yes, it is in the normal range. See: http://www.apple.com/iphone/iphone-4s/specs.html

    • Talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G, up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM)
    • Standby time: Up to 200 hours
    • Internet use: Up to 6 hours on 3G, up to 9 hours on Wi-Fi
    • Video playback: Up to 10 hours
    • Audio playback: Up to 40 hours

Note that WiFi is off when the phone is asleep, so it will use 3G when asleep.

I've done exactly the same thing, after first trying the recommend of deleting mail accounts and reinstalling, but unfortunately it didn't do anythign to releive the problem. Is that a process you ahd to go through more than once?

Mail isn't the only app that can cause this, but it is the most common. To be sure delete the accounts and reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. Before adding the accounts back (or turning them on again if you just turned them off) check the battery for a couple of hours. If it is still draining fast the problem wasn't in email. You can add the accounts back and check other apps. If you have Facebook or similar social networking apps they would be the next suspect.

If the problem is resolved add the email accounts back one at a time. Allow time for the account to resync before checking the battery. On a WiFi connection this will be pretty quick unless you have a lot of email, contacts, or calendar to sync. But an hour should be sufficient.

Have you tried just doing the Reset All Settings? It worked for me. Now, my battery is better than at anytime in the past. Today with normal use from 7am until 5pm, the battery drain was only 30% in the 10 hours. I basically checked three mail accounts including company exchange server and browsed the Internet occasionally .

I've forgot to mention that my mail settings have gone back to Push along with enabling notifications, location service, FaceTime, etc.

Can someone with the problem try my method and let us know he results? I find that it is the least intrusive method.

Ciao Lawrence, it's me again. yesterday i followed your suggestion about delating my yahoo account and then rebooting my iphone5 (home+sleep ) and suddently i added it back

Before going to sleep battery was 27% (i checked emails, surfed the net about 30minutes and a cuouple of Viber sms) , i did not charge the phone as i wanted to wait to switch it off by its own

Today when i woke up it was 12% ( so around 9 hours after 27%) some emails check, 2-3 sms (viber/Imessage) and after 4hours it finally switched off alone

What do you think about the above %? i didn't delate icloud (as you suggested yahoo as first to try), do i have to switch "push" to fetch then on yahoo /icloud? thank you again for your kind help

We don't have enough information yet. Charge it to 100% and see what happens for the next day or two.

It's a good one to try, and will work for some people. As I've said, battery drain is a symptom, not a condition. There are many conditions that can cause it. Corrupt settings is certainly one of them, and your solution will work for that condition.
