an iBook-G4 running OSX 10.4.11. Several user accounts each account  with an individual com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Specific fields of interest

NSNavLastRootDirectory

QTPRecentDocumentsUserDefault

These fields seem fairly intuitive as to their contents but I need to have a clear understanding of exactly what they mean, how and when they are populated, consequences if any of doing upgrades, etc., etc.  In this particular case, all of the NSNav.... fields for each different user point to one user's root path, and interestingly all of the user's seem to have an identical UID. Thanks, MZ

    Hi MZ,

If the last opended one was on the boot drive...

    NSNavLastCurrentDirectory

Applications/Eudora Folder (Last file location opened)

    NSNavLastRootDirectory

    / (Path to that location)

    QTPRecentDocumentsUserDefault

    (Name of file)

But if the last thing opened was not on the boot drive, NSNavLastRootDirectory is dropped & the whole path is in NSNavLastCurrentDirectory...

    NSNavLastCurrentDirectory

      /Volumes/Other Drive/Folder

    QTPRecentDocumentsUserDefault

(Will have an additional field called altname with filename first, curiously followed by the full path including filename)

I can see no consequences of any upgrading.
