I apologize for my late response.
Viber requires an internet connection in order to function. If you are not connected to the internet via neither 3G nor WiFi (your phone is "offline"), then naturally Viber will not display any notifications. The notifications for incoming calls or text meesages will be displayed in Viber retroactively after you connect back to the internet.
Which error message exactly do you see after those 40 seconds?
It could be that the network you are connected to is blocking Viber's traffic.
1. First, please try uninstalling and reinstalling Viber when connecting to a few different WiFi networks (in order to pinpoint the source of the problem). What are the results?
2. Also, please make sure the following ports are enabled ("forwarded") on your routers or firewalls:
TCP: 5242 + 4244
UDP: 5243 + 9785
(if you are not sure how to enable ports, you may contact your router manufacturer)

am using iPhone 4s, with OS 6.0 (10A403), and the phone is brand new, as i had it replaced few days ago with some battery issue. and i thought my problem with viber will be solved when i use the new device, but surely it was not.
the issue am having is that i can't make phone calles anymore, when ever i press "free call" button, it simply does nothing.
i had this problem on the 2 iPhones, and of course i reinstalled Viber, i did rest the phone million times to the factory settings, i did switch to the "flight mode" a i used the wireless only.. but no luck.
what can i do? what happened to the program? it was a great progam two years ago!

I've been using Viber for a month or so now and am on an iPhone 4s with latest iOS6 updates and Viber 2.3.0 installed. This morning (28/12/12) at about just after 12 midday I got a message from someone in my contacts list, but when I press on the message to open it, it will not open and just exits the app. I have been messaging this person lots over the past 2-3 weeks without any issue and can move about the rest of the app without any issues, it's just when I try to open this new message.
If I delete and reinstall the app, will I lose all the message history including this new unread message or is there a way to prevent that happening?!?

Yes, deleting the app will delete all of your message history (though you could Export it to a file through Viber's settings).
There might have been a temproary glitch in our servers that caused this problem. Did you try to ask that contact to message you again? Does it work now?
Which error message exactly are you facing?

I am having a slight problem with Viber. I am using it on my iPhone 5, updated with the latest version of iOS and Viber. I am located in Switzerland.
I am not receiving any sound anymore, when I get a Viber message, my iPhone is just vibrating. And this only happens with Viber, nothing else... Any idea how to fix this, so that I can hear when I get someone writing to me ?
Thanks in advance !

Did you make sure to install the latest version of Viber from AppStore?
Also, did you make sure your phone's settings (and button) are not set to vibrate-only?
Lastly, please try rebooting your phone. Did it help?

Hi, after reading the latest post, I believe the problem is still not understood/recognized.
The ringing, but no connection problem is actually:
- sound of Viber app is not transferring to the internal phone speaker
- if you use conference mode, the app is working fine
- also when using ear piece with microphone, calling with Viber is possible
My wife uses last two options as workaround on her 3GS; the problem persists on her new iPhone 5.
Seems like the problem moves with the user (account?). I have a iPhone 4 and do not have this problem.

You should use the number that you're currently using to receive SMS and calls, because we (Viber) send the SMS or automatic call to an active number that can receive them.
Then, your Viber ID will be the number with which you registered.
Please let us know if everything went fine

I'm using an iPhone 5 with viber in Mexico to talk to a Sony-Ericcson Xperia with viber installed in Spain. I can see the user in the contacts list but, whenever I try to call her my phone indicates me that her version of viber is old and she must reinstall it. She has just got the Viber application. I send her messages, but even those don't get through.
Could you please tell me what might be the problem and how to fix it?

Hi @Valrivrog -
First, please make sure BOTH of you have the latest version of Viber installed.
Secondly, please try (both of you) to switch between a few different WiFi networks, and keep testing Viber on all of them. The problem may be the the network that either side is using is blocking Viber's ports.
Lastly, if all fails, you might want to reinstall Viber on both sides and try again (however, this will result in deletion of all of your message history).
Please let us know if this helped
