Hi All,

I bought my first MAC a few months ago and am new to applescript. I have an APC UPS that I am monitoring using PowerSaveUPS. PowerSaveUPS will execute applescripts based on various power events. I also have a Pegasus R6 and an iOmega px4-300d NAS. Via applescript I want to shut down and restart these devices when power is lost and restored.

First question: Has anyone written any applescripts that control either of these devices that you could share with me?

Second question: What are the best 1 or 2 books for learning applescript?

Thanks in advance!

Apart from mounting and un-mounting the drives what else can you do them from the system and how do you currently do that?

Applescript can easily mount and unmount drives doing anything else (such as spinning them down) would depend on how that is done now.

Of course O'Rielly has a good selection. In addition there are a number of good websites Macscripter is one. Do a search you'll find many more. good luck
