Does your iPhone work on other WiFi networks, or is this a problem with all WiFi?
If it is all WiFi then there could be a fault in the wireless radio in the iPhone that needs to be diagnosed by a tech at an Apple store genius bar.
Do all of the wireless functions work, cell service, bluetooth?

Wifi not working on any wireless network at all.
Bluetooth wasn't working, until the install of iOS 6.1.2.
But the wifi is still not working.
Also when I try to manually find a network, it returns two different kind of errors
"unable to scan for wifi networks"
"unable to join network xzy"

That sounds like a failure in the wireless circuitry...I would take it to an Apple store genius bar or Apple authorized service center have the techs test the iPhone and see why it isn't sensing any wireless.
Also, have you tried holding the iPhone so you are not making any contact with the surrounding antenna/metal band? Or do you use some sort of case or protector around the sides?

I have the same problem with the 4S and so does my sister. There seems to be a problem with the Apple update. I am connected to Wifi. I downloaded some apps perfectly fine, but the Apple update says I'm not connected to Wifi. WRONG! It is.
