The one thing that keeps me from using Logic over Garageband is its tedious and complicated reverb layout.  I just want a simple reverb control like Garageband has (it's just a short scroll bar from 0 to 100.)

Is this in Logic Pro 9?

Please take this in the spirit it is intended...

If you find the basic Logic reverb 'complicated' then I suggest you might be better off sticking with GB... and in actuallity, I do not understand what you mean by a 'tedious and complicated' reverb layout..

Which of the reverbs are you trying to use in Logic? (as there are 6 different ones,..)

The basic Averb reverb only has 5 very basic controls.. and one of those is just a mix control... and I don't think anyone would consider that one 'tedious or complicated...' so I suspect you aren't aware of the other reverbs apart from the Space Designer... which is the one i think you are trying to use..

    Am I correct?

You purchase professional software and you want it to work like the freebie that comes with a Mac? Either educate yourself or stick with beginners software.

    Unbelievable.

I'm finding proof the the Mac philosophy of "it's so easy" "it just works" has created a league of dunderheads.

If you load Averb as an insert and set the room size to 120, then the vertical mix slider (scroll bar) becomes just like the horizontal reverb slider in Garageband.

Oh.. Pancenter is being nice.... and extremely truthful...

and frankly, I couldn't agree more with his comments...

Dropping the price of Logic.. was always going to open up the program to people who really don't need it's complexity... and who cant be bothered to even read the manual... However, if it allows some not so well off Musician who will take the time to read and learn, to be able to use Logic to create music then I'm all for that benefit too.. Guess you canot have one without the other unfortunately!

and the following is not directed at the Op.. but is just a general rant of mine...

How many times do people post up a crash log here that shows they are using a crappy cheap audio.midi interface yet they have Logic, Live, PT and any number of expensive plugins installed.... which you know they never bought...

It's why they never learn anything themselves because they just download everything for free and never take the time to fully get to grips with something they have paid their hard earned cash for.

They also tend to be the same group of people that are 'dying' for Logic X to come out... when in reality they haven't even explored a 1/1000th of what the current version of Logic is capable of doing... and for the most part they are also the same group of people who complain the loudest about any issues they might have with Logic... (which often are being caused by the loose screw situated half way between the chair and the screen!)

+1  Especially not having one without the other.

I guess I'm alarmed at the lack of curiosity, so many think they can look something up on the Internet or be told what to do and that suffices as knowledge... when if fact, it's just information.

    Information is not knowledge.

Logic was created by a few brilliant minds, (as were the other DAWs). It's an opportunity to use a tool that is unbelievably deep and powerful, in fact, it was this way long before Apple purchased it. Logic always was far beyond what Apple is capable of. It is disappointing to see the program treated with so little respect.

Not only is the program cheap but since removing the xskey it is heavily pirated..  buy a program cheap or download it  =  lack of respect. Same thing happened to Cubase when it was heavily pirated... now it has a solid protection system and development has been moving at a fact clip, the new Nuendo was just released.

Apple USES Logic to sell computers.
