Q: Migration Assistant stall when the process is almost complete. How can I stop this happening or get pas 'Transferring files to support applications''. I'm installing from a Time Machine B'up

I am trying to setup a new iMac using Migration Assistant to transfer all the info from a Time Machine Backup. It appears to be working and the process takes approx 1.5hrs. However, when the blue progress bar is full it stops at the 'Transferring files to support applications' stage and the files haven't been transferred.

What should I do?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

As you are restoring from a Time Machine backup, just disconnect and connect the external drive again, so the restore should continue and it should finish correctly.

If it doesn't work, turn off the iMac holding the Power button, and turn it on. If you can't access to your data, restore the backup again, and if you can, just don't worry
