Q: iPod Classic

thanks for reply. I formated by my computer and my ipod drive then I download "iPod_33.2.0.1.ipsw" and "iPod_33.2.0.1.ipsw.signature" files and put into "iPod Software Updates" folder and could able to restore. coz my itune not able to connect interent even my internet is fine.. so by that my ipod workind fine now.

now I get problem with sound. sound voice is not bit clear. and left sound is very slower ..  now what to do ??

please explain how can I do that working?

Ipod stopped working a couple of weeks ago, connected it to Itunes and restored...isn't able to complete a restore simply saying the ipod is corrupt...on the ipod menus and everything work except that there is no media content on there (and I can't sync anything onto it)...

I've had this ipod for 3 years now so warranty is out of the question...

Is this ipod hard disk dead and is it worth replacing the drive?

Hello. My ipod started bootlooping some time ago. Today i tried a lot of things. The drive is recognized in windows and mac but i cant see its contents. Either mac or pc can format the drive (tried different cables) In mac it says POSIX Input /output error. I tried DFU and i get 1439 on windows and 1430 on mac. I even tried the ancient spank technique. Do you think it is dead? I find extrange the fact that reallocs and pending is low but the hard drive wont work. I also tried US partition master... I agree it would seem that you ought to be able to clean out those last two pending sectors, but it also sounds like you've probably exhausted the possibilities...

hi,, my ipod classic suddenly cannot turn on and the screen displays a sad ipod icon and tell me to go to www.apple.com/support/ipod. i found that i have to put my ipod into disk mode, but it has to be charged. when i connect the charger, it says "please wait, very low battery" , but after i waited for 4 hours, the ipod didn't charged, the screen keep saying the same thing..

then i tried to press and hold the select and menu buttons, all that appeared was an apple logo (in dark screen, not in bright screen as usual) and after a while the screen display the sad ipod icon again...

what should i do??? please help...

i already try to check by diagnostic mode, but after i choose HDSmartData there is nothing come out,, then i choose HD specs but there is nothing too..

If you have the sad face and can't get access to the HDD stats then it would seem the disk isn't initialising properly when it starts up. Short of the "hand slap" reset there is nothing else I can think of.

Use as a last resort. Start gentle. May not be a permanent fix. May not work at all. That said I recently pulled a 9Gb library out of an old 4th gen. classic the owner had all but given up on recovering so it is worth a try.

Hi

My Ipod loses the sound periodically when sat in a dock. I have two docks and it does it in both of them. I have also checked the HDD for faults, it has 16 retracts, 0 Reallocs and 0 Pending, so should be in good health.

I have restored it, reloaded all the music back onto it and it still cuts out.

Any suggestions?

That's probably down to poor electical contact in the dock connectors, but it is possible that the connector itself is failing or damaged internally. I find I generally get a better connection without the surrounding plastic dock adaptor and in some cases I've used a bit of blutack to keep the device in the correct alignment with the dock connector. Too much strain out of line may damage the connections.

It is also possible for fluff to get into the connector which can prevent good electrical contact. If present this should be cleaned out using compressed air.

after i read the comments on the link you gave me, i decided to open the ipod, then i found out that something was loose inside, and i just tightened the thing and everything back to normal again..
