Q: Latest AirPort Utility on Mac OS X 10.8 does not see latest 7.3 Firmware Time Capsule, while iPad AirPort Utility can

After the latest update of AirPort Utility my MacBook Pro 15" AirPort Utility is unable to see Time Capsule, even if it connects properly to Time Capsule Wi-Fi network and it can see the disk browsing by IP. I am therefore unable to use Time Machine which is the primary reason why I bought it. It has been working smoothly for almost an year and I did not change any configuration. Besides, AirPort Utility on the iPad is able to see Time Capsule correctly.

Please let me know what possible fix I might try.

Thanks,

F.

To get TM working, see if you can manually mount the disk.

In finder use go, connect to server.

Then simply type in the connection AFP://10.0.1.1

If you are asked for a password put it in and then see if TM can locate the TC.

I think you should report to Apple the issues you are having.. even if just via the feedback..

It does sound like an update has corrupted something serious.

So, do you want to know what solved the issue?

After I reinstalled Mac OS X 10.8, (clean install) issue was still there.

After I updated to Mac OS X 10.8.2, issue was still there.

After I upgraded TC Firmware back to 7.3, issue was still there.

After I upgrade to AirPort Utility 6.2, issue was still there.

Then I stumbled onto this article about AirPlay having issues for iPV6 network configuration which suggested to issue from Terminal

    networksetup -setv6off Ethernet

    networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi

And after a reboot I am able to see my TC again and to use TM on it.

Thank you for your assistance LaPastenague, I anyway appreciated it!

    Ciao,

    F.

    Good work.. !!

Difficult to see how it started but 7.6.3 has some change to ipv6 that is causing issues.. how airplay interacts with that and why it started only at the upgrade.. ?? Apple should test a lot more carefully.
