Mine is an "MD". If this is true and the faulty phones all fall into a certain model group then shame on Apple for not issuing a recall notice!

My IP5 was a 'MD' model , the hardware in the phone is ok , any issues I had was fixed with software updates . I have since purchased a Nokia Lumia 920 and gave the IP5 to my daughter and it is still working as it should . So based on this , it's not a model number issue .

My replacement is an "ND", and it' s been ok, however one day I had to turn WiFi off and on to get it to work and I thought this BS was starting on my replacement iPhone, but....almost afraid to type this for fear it'll jinx it, but it hasn't been a problem since.

    Hey Mark_Mark,

I would agree with you 100% with regard to Apple products falling from their pedestal. I made several posts regarding my issues encountered switching from my beloved iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5 and have even more Wi-Fi/Software update issues I'll discuss later in the post. I thought you might find it quite interesting how Apple's manufacturing changed since Apple & Samsung had their falling out. For all other iphone models prior to the 5, Apple used Samsung Batteries, LCD screen, and other extremely useful technologies to make up the iphone. Now that they've severed all ties Apple was forced to use companies like Sharp Technologies along with some others which in my opinion explains quite a bit as far as the reduced quality of things like battery life, etc. !

I am curious if you had issues with 6.1.2? I updated the software and immediately following was having conflicting issues as to whether the phone was or was not connected to the home wifi. I was using the internet and noticed that my phone was NOT using my home wifi as it should and was prior to updating. Annoyingly however, when I went into settings to see whether or not it was WAS using Wi-Fi it was showing that it was connected to the network. So irritating!

I checked a few other things like the router, etc and it was not pulling the Wi-Fi even after reseting network settings and re-entering the information. Now, our second issue that we're having on our 2 iphone 5's but not the iphone 4s that is also on our plan, is that something is using out data on all three phones, every hour on the hour, 24 hours a day, at the exact same minute i.e. 12:01am, 1:01am, 2:01am, 3:01a, 4:01am...etc....etc. When I did the math for the data it is using, it worked out to be half of our shared data since we have the lowest elected data share plan because all three of us have access to Wi-Fi at home or work.

By the way, all of this started in the last 20 days and had not ever shown up in our usage prior. I checked my own personal apps thinking Find my Iphone may be the cause but since its occurring on all three phones I know that Apps are not the problem. (We just got my 75 year old mom an iphone and she has no apps considering she is still struggling to use it at all.)

My husband recently updated his software 2 days ago, and immediately started having this exact same issue. The phone settings say its using Wi-Fi but its not! If anyone else has had either of these issues and resolved them please do let me know! I just wanted to share in hopes that they would fix it ASAP!

(Sorry if this is post is a little scrambled, had a lot to say but not as much time to write it!)

    Gnavicks

as per your request & Instruction (Settings/Airplane Mode/ON) and only connect to WiFi (Settings/Wi-Fi/ON)? - no problem seen, fast streaming, besides wifi at home & office max speed is 2mbps only, but the speed is ridiculous fast, the only thing annoyed me is when i download an app to Appstore, it is bit slow compared to my previous 4s,

I got my iPhone 5 from Verizon, it is a GSM/CDMA (both), even I'm outside USA (Asia, Middle east, Europe) its working, cause its unlocked even under Verizon contract, iPhone 5 in Verizon comes factory unlock on GSM out of the box!

2 days ago I was presented with the iPhone 5.

Program from the appstore loaded very slowly.

    My internet speed 20 Mbps.

On the iPhone game weighing 40 MB loaded almost half an hour. How is this possible? My iPad 2 does not have this problem in the same network. The same game it loaded in seconds.

What do I do? If I return the phone to the store, there is a guarantee that I will be given a new copy, which will not have such problems? Or an injury to all new iphone 5?

    Help me.

LeraVent, if the download was fast when near the router <1meter, but get slower or dropped out when your were >2 meters away. You probably have bad H/W. go get replace.

"You probably have bad H/W" - what's this?

    >2 meters away - it on ipad2.

IPhone 5 to speed just like a snail.

Now put the game to load weight of 350 MB, I understand that it will boot up tomorrow = (

What are the forecasts? This bug will be fixed?

What do developers do? Silent? It is a shame for Apple.

I meant bad iPhone 5 hardware (H/W) if its speed is snail. No software can fix H/W problem.

I exchanged my iPhone5 and the problem gone. Now it is as good as my iPad2.

Mine is MD model, no wifi issues, video streaming ridiculously very fast, batery life last up to 2 1/2 days, no issues at all, in short its not about the model,

Pao2, if you are connected to 5GHz router then no issue. In my case the issue only happened with 2.4GHz connection.

I doubt that a shop in Russia will make replacement a fully working system. It turns out that the WF works, but only appstore does not allow the program to upload speed that my ISP provides.
