For some reason,I cannot permanently delete cookies. I remove all web data, and when I come back later, they have all returned. Any suggestions?.

After you remove cookies from a browser you must quit that browser first and then reopen it.   If you don't quit they all reappear.

The only way to permanently remove a cookie is to specifically block it by name and that can be a long job if you have many.

Two thoughts.  There is an easy to use app in App store named 'Cookie' which offers a simple way of removing them along with flash cookies and databases.

One of our senior contributors often writes that cookies are less worrisome than they are made out to be and keeping an eye on the unusual is more practical than removing them by rote.

Not in Firefox in my experience. Cookies clear and do not reappear until the page involved is next visited.

And to add to this question exactly how are you clearing the cookies?

If you're interested in deleting tracking cookies, you can install the browser extension Ghostery, which will prevent them from installing in the first place.

I just dragged the entire ~/Library/cookies folder to the trash and then rebooted and it seemed to solve the problem.
