Hi,

I had a problem with my mac so I copied my entire ical account (3.0.8 version) to a hard drive before I got a new computer. The new iCal that has been installed on my laptop is the version 4.0.4.

Now I'm trying to open iCal from my back-up drive to transfer all the data to my mac and it won't open with a msg 'You can't use this version of the application iCal with this version of Mac OS X - You have iCal 3.0.8'.

There is very important data on my old ical 3.0.8 version that I really need to transfer or export.

Is there a way of exporting raw data from the hard drive directly to my mac? Or is there any software I can get so my old version will open?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

BKrafft

    Hi,

The message would indicate you have the old iCal application on your hard drive.

Do you have more than one version installed?

    Hi,

You cannot use iCal in a version of OSX that it was not designed for.  The current version for your sytem is iCal 4.  It sounds like what you are doing is picking up the old version before the new one.

Do you need to keep the old version of the application? If not delete it.

There is no user calednar data stored within the Application.

All your calendar data is stored in your User's Library folder in a folder called Calendars.  Did you make a backup of that Calendars folder, make a .icbu file export, or export the calendars as .ics files?
