I've had exactly the same thing since an Apple update Friday night.
One suggestion was to go to settings, general, reset. You may have to scroll down the 'general' to find reset.
It worked for me.

I'm having the exact same issue as Jeff and have reset the sytem but this did not solve the problem. Is there another fix?

You may find that your computer cannot access itunes either, mine didn't. ifollowed another piece of advice, namely, go to command prompt and type in 'netsh winsock reset'. This resets something and I could then access itunes.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your suggestion. I had tried the reset route but no luck. I will try your other suggestion and see how that goes. Thanks again.

When I selected Movies or TV Shows fro Apple TV Menu it goes black and looks as if it is loading then comes back to the main page.
I am having the same issue. Click on movies and/or tv shows, momentary screen comes up as if itunes store is loading then screen goes back to the main window. I Performed an update this morning and ever since then movies and tv show will not launch. Have tried restarting the appletv box and unplugging but it isn't solving the issue. streaming Netflix and youtube works fine. I can also see movies and tv from my imac, so the my loggin is working correctly elsewhere...

I finally solved it by signing out of apple, restarting the appletv and reglogging into my apple account. Now movies and tvshows works fine.

I suspect that when I hit reset it returned the movie downloads to HD rather than Std Def.
SO the movie we downloaded stopped every few minutes while the buffering caught up.
We gave up watching - it wasn't worth it.
I've now gone to settings>itunes shop and changed the download back to std def.
Hope it works .

My Apple TV Gen 1 just started doing this, this morning. Worked fine last night but now all of a sudden my I.D. And password will not work, only on this specific Apple TV. Everything is working fine on my other ATVs. I've tried the reset and the restore and still nothing, can any of you out there help me?
