Have you tried with other user? Maybe it's a user problem (it works with other user) or a system problem (software both). Maybe you can repair permissions with Disk Utility, selecting Macintosh HD and Repair Permissions.
Other option is reset PRAM with: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If nothing works maybe the bluetooth card has a problem.
Greetings

Mar 11, 2013 9:26 AM in response to zack's dadby ErreKrbo,Other option is try to delete the plist (preferences archive) in the Library.
To go to Library folder you can open the menu Go, having selected Finder, push the key ALT to see the Library -> Preferences folder and there you must move the file com.Apple.Bluetooth.xxxxxxx.plist to the Desktop.
Then restart and the plist archive must be regenerate. If doesn't work yes, you need to go to Apple Store or Apple Service Provider.
Good Luck,

Oct 13, 2013 11:03 AM in response to ErreKrboby Ray Stilson,This worked perfectly. Except I needed to do a hard shut down for it to take. But thanks a lot. Saved me a trip to the Apple Store. (I can't stand those places.)
