I should also add that I took the laptop the the Apple Store this last weekend and they found nothing wrong with it.  They mentioned the recent macrumors article which lead me to this thread and they mentioned that a future update might fix it.

Just called the Apple store about this issue, they weren't aware about any fan issues at all. I have owned and returned a rMBP, and was thinking about buying another one this week, but now, seeing as how nothing has changed and Apple has not even acknowleged the issue, won't be. For a $2000 plus machine you shouldn't be dealing with these kinds of issues.

I just bought one yesterday, hoping I wouldn't have the issue... I do.

    rMBP 16G Sand Disk

    Case 422387095

I begged for possible solutions or escalation and the Apple Care rep said since I bought it from Best Buy I should just return it... I don't really want to go through their whole inventory to find one that works, but maybe I will have to...

Nice, second try this one has the same issue... Not sure if I should wait for a fix, open up all the boxes at Best Buy or just get a plain Mac Book.  The Mac guy at Best Buy tried the Song test on all of the Macbooks (Airs and Pros) and only saw the issue with the 15" rMBP.

So, I am not sure if my SSD is the Sandisk. My hard drive is listed as APPLE SSD SD256E.

My does the fan trick every once in awhile. I just noticed tonight that it happened after the Mac had been sleeping for about one and three quarter hours. When I opened the lid it took about 7 seconds for me to be able to log in and about 10 minutes later the fans came on for about a minute. The Mac was not warm at all at this point.

The SD indicates it is a Sandisk SSD

Possibly a bug introduced with 10.8.2? (affecting all 2013 models, 10.8.2 not tested with Sandisk?)

    Hi Everybody,

I'm new to the forum and I am curious about this issue. I got my Macbook Retina in late December and it is my first Mac. And may I say that it is stunning! Recently, I was notified by a friend that the Macbook Pro Retina Displays have a fan problem and decided to check it out. From my research, I believe that the Sandisk SSD's are speculated to cause the problem. I checked my system configuration and found that the SSD on my machine is labeled SD256E which, to my knowledge, means that my Mac sports the Sandisk model SSD. My usage of the machine is fairly light due to my tasks' dependence on the Windows OS so I'm not sure if my machine displays the issue. I do notice, on occasion, that the fans do ramp up enough to be noticible but I do not believe that they are running at full speed as shown in some videos. This usually happens when I'm watching videos on Youtube, which is understandable due to the somewhat demanding nature of streaming videos. For those of you who are experiencing the problem, how much usage did the system undergo before the problem arose?

So I downloaded tempurature gauge and everthing looks pretty good on my end except for the SSD. The app says that the SSD's temp. is 64 degrees celsius. Is that a bit warm for an SSD?

I have a Macbook Retina, bought in Dez. 2012, i have Sandisk SSD, i have this fan issue! My friends have Retina Book, one bought in June with Samsung SSD, no problem, the other friend bought it in March 2013, with 512gb Samsung SSD, no Problem, it must be the Sandisk SSD!!! I'm very angry about this, when apple will decide to make a update for this, are 33 sites of a tread not enough? Don't they read this tread?
