I jsut updated to 11.0.2 iTunes, and still have the issue.

The button you show (and thank you, by the way for being clear) is the only one I'm talking about. The issue, apparently, is tat it doesn't default as X Updates available, even with automatic search for updates checked.
It simply does nothing.
I should be getting a pop-up that tells me "there are no updates available" but I don't. I get nothing, even when I know for a fact that apps should get an update.
Is it a OSX issue? The computer in question isn't on Lion, but that really should ave no bearing, considering it is the latest version of iTunes.

It would appear that once I discovered that for some reason I couldn't make any changes to the iTunes preferences, clearly there was a bad cache or preferences file. Deleting all files from my Preferences, Application Support and Caches has cleared this up.
So, in otherwords, my Mac was dumb.
