You have a Samsung SSD. They are not affected.

    Mohanfromajax,

I ordered my 13" retina Sunday night and got it today.  It has a Samsung SSD.  Also, the 768GB SSDs are all Samsung, even for the 15".

    @mohanfromajax

pull up about this mac- more info- system report- storage

If your HD says Apple SSD SD**** it is a Sandisk is it says SM I beleive that it is a Samsung drive

For the LED panel pull up terminal and enter in the following:

    ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

Under the first line which reads "Color LCD" you should see somthing like this:

    Color LCD

    LSN154YL01001

    DLM250304M4F49HB1

Which denotes a Samsung display if it says LP instead it is an LG panel

    Hope that helps

"Also, the 768GB SSDs are all Samsung, even for the 15".

So is that the final resolution?  Go with the 768 GB SSDs?

Yes, that is most likely the case. No customer in this board has reported that he has a SanDisk 768GB SSD. They probably do not produce such SSDs. But: Maybe you would be an early adopter of a SanDisk SSD if you buy a new device today. Nobody can guarantee that Apple won't use SanDisk 768SSDs in future.

Beside that: Its not a real solution to buy that expensive SSD if you do not need the space, just to avoid a problem with the smaller ones.

I just bought my 15 inch macbook pro retina on Tuesday.

    And...

    It's a Samsung display!!

    but it's also a Sandisk...

So far no fan issues whatsoever though...hopefully it stays that way.

    Adding my two cents.

    New 2013 15" retina Macbook Pro. 2.7 16GB 512 APPLE SSD SD512E

Had it for almost a week with the fans going crazy (intermittently, mind you).

Took it to Applestore Doncaster (Melbourne).

They confirmed the problem - it was pretty easy to replicate instore

They told me it needed to be sent away for repair.

I've only had it for 6 days! So i politely declined that suggestion.

After speaking to the manager, I got a refund.

Walked across to Myer and brought a brand new macbook pro. Same specs for $300 discount.

Fingers crossed to see how this next week goes...

Have the fan issues happened immediately for most people (within a few hours of first using the laptop), or have they only started occurring after several days/weeks?

My fans started a few hours after I started using the mac.

Sometimes with apps open, sometimes with just the Finder open...

I went to the Apple Store and they kept the MBPR for do some specifics test.
They have done same test and all have been passed.

Apparently the "genius" didn't know about this fans issue.

I will let you know if I have some news.

    Cya!

It's quite unlikely that you are not affected of this error.

Please send us your firmware version of your SSD. You get it here:

Click on Apple icon -> about this mac -> more info -> hardware / serial ata -> select the disk

Its listed under Revision. Mine says 1021AP.

I got my rMBR yesterday. It has a Samsung display and a 512GB Sandisk SSD, revision 1027AP.

I do not have any issues at all. This is a perfect laptop in every way.

Thats very interesting. I really suspect the SSD Firmware to be the source of the error.

Since yours is newer that might be the reason why you are not affected.

Could you try to download the song from this post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21434622#21434622

Import it to iTunes and then restart your Mac. After restart don't open any program except iTunes and play the file.

Can you confirm that your fans do not get crazy during the full playback of this song?

Did you try to force reproduce the problem using the "song"? https://discussions.apple.com/message/21422172#21422172

    P.S. Mine revision is 1021AP.
