If you sync with a computer that has outlook on it you can use iTUnes to set up the calendar sync.
Connect the iPad, open iTUnes, choose your device's name and navigate to 'info'. There you'll see options pertaining to mail and various outlook options.
Another thing you can do, for example, I sync my work calendar to my personal iPad. I export the calendar from my work computer, import it into my personal one, then sync it to my iPad.

The synching using iTunes appears not to be an option as it has been prior to my recent attempts. The statement present under calendar in iTunes is that calendars are synched wirelessly using iCloud. I know that I could download the icloud control panel, but do not wish to have personal info in the icloud (we are security experts). I assumed that there is no work around, but wanted to ask.
We have been building machines with a Windows 8 OS and Office 2013 (not fans) and ran into the situation with iTunes while loading and testing software.
thanks though - I'm going to try the export idea.
