I purchased OS X Lion. It worked. I bought and installed OS X Mountain Lion. It doens't work. Its slow. And is getting slower. Takes for ever to boot up and the problems just keep coming. I have to repair permissions almost daily because Mail and Safari lock up and bounce and bounce and bounce. Have to force quit. Can't relaunch the system because everything disappears - icons, screen, everything. Sometimes I even have to just push the power button to get the thing to restart.

I'm tired of this. I want Lion back but I can't seem to be able to download it off of the App store when I purchased it there. And funny, its on'ly one version back. You should be able to get it without having to jump through hoops.

I hate Microsoft and I'd hate to have to move in that direction but I'm tired of the headaches I'm getting with ML. Its just not worth it.

I think that the upgrade to Mountain Lion damaged OS X, because what you describe isn't normal. Apart, when you purchase OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Lion stops being available for you.

Apple released OS X 10.8.3 yesterday, so in my opinion, you should consider erasing the hard drive and reinstalling OS X Mountain Lion. Don't make a Time Machine backup; instead, make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, that you will use after to restore your data manually. Follow these steps:

    1. Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start in OS X Recovery, and open Disk Utility.

    2. Select "Macintosh HD" on the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.

    3. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X

Yea that would be great but that didn't work either.

Since I haven't been able to find Lion I decided to try again with Mountain Lion. I used Disk Utilities and completely X out the drive. I then reinistalled Mountain Lion from the App Store. And then installed all the updates. Then all I reinstalled was Safari and Mail. Could't see wasting the whole day reinstalling all my stuff if its still broken.

Well, its still broken. Now the computer goes to sleep and stays asleep. No mouse, no keyboard. Nothing. This really *****. I have had to turn it off via the power button already 3 times today.

What gives Apple? Shouldn't be this hard to go back to another OS that works. Now all I have is a giant door stop on my desk.

But all is not lost. I found a saved version of OS X Lion on a storage drive. Now I need to find out how to reinstall this, because when I tried inserting the original disk that came witth the computer it wouldn't do anything.

    HELP please.

    Thanks Apple.

What are the specs of your Mac?

    Pete
